08-04-22 Wonderland Trail:
Day two of our journey around Mt Rainier started off foggy and rainy. What a surprise from yesterday. We waited between rain showers to quickly take down and pack the tents away. Stopped at the shelter to wait for another break in the rain.
I didn't want to wait until the rain completely stopped so I took off early looking for the pink ribbons through the washed out lower section. Then the uphill started, staircasing almost to the top.

It was much cooler and the snowpack started to appear.

Stopped for a quick lunch and we had a visit from a curious marmot.

This was the day we were going to go over the notorious Panhandle Gap, a steep section where one does not want to fall. We were ready with our microspikes!

After conquering the Gap, the sun came out as we slowly made our way down to Summerland.

A friendly marmot could care less that we snapped many photos of it.

The pic below is the group camp at Summerland.
